Paper Anniversary Wedding Ornament

When my cousin got married in Amsterdam a few years ago she had these lovely bride and groom napkins, and let me take a package home. Over the years, I’ve converted these couples into ornaments, and my customers say they make perfect paper anniversary gifts.

I hand-formed steel wire into a round shape with a heart on top. Then I dipped the napkin tissue into encaustic medium, and adhered the couple to the wire form. Then I cut the paper shape to size with an exacto knife. If you know a couple celebrating their first year together, or just want to celebrate their love regardless of anniversary markers, this is a fun and whimsical gift to give.

This ornament measures 2 1/2 inches long by 2 inches wide and comes with a white satin ribbon for hanging.

Encaustics should be cared for as you would for any fine art piece. Encaustic derives from the word ‘burn in’ and is a process of applying molten wax colors to a surface for the creation of images or decoration that began more than 2 millennia ago with Roman Egyptian wax portraits.
