Under lock and key paper collage pendant

Show your sweetheart that you have the key to her heart.

This lightweight pendant was created with love and includes handwritten statements “Key to my heart” and “under lock and key”, a hand-stamped steampunk heart and steampunk key in red ink complete the adornment. I hand-wrote the phrases in pencil. Then I stamped the key and the heart onto separate paper and cut out the shapes. I dipped all of it in encaustic medium (a wax and resin blend), and then collaged the heart together. The paper was then adhered to the steel wire shape.

Steel wire heart pendant with waxed paper collage measures 2 3/4 inches long by 2 1/2 inches wide. The pendant comes with a 19 inch black satin cord.

Encaustics should be cared for as you would for any fine art piece. Encaustic derives from the word “burn in” and is a process of applying molten wax colors to a surface for the creation of images or decoration that began more than 2 millennia ago with Roman Egyptian wax portraits.
