Purple Mother’s Heart

All mothers are deserving of a Purple Heart, so gift yours with this one-of-a-kind piece.

Steel wire has been hand-bent into a circle that then is formed into two layered hearts, ending with a coil, showing how close a mother holds her child to her heart.

The larger heart is embellished with tissue paper that was dipped in encaustic medium (beeswax with resin) and then adhered to the wire. The circle underneath has the words for mother in a variety of languages. It reads:

This lightweight pendant measures 3 1/4 inches long by 2 3/4 inches wide and comes with a black satin cord. 

Encaustics should be cared for as you would for any fine art piece. Encaustic derives from the word “burn in” and is a process of applying molten wax colors to a surface for the creation of images or decoration that began more than 2 millennia ago with Roman Egyptian wax portraits.
