This beauty exudes royalty with her vibrant purple colors and touch of silver. I hand-bent steel wire into an angel shape and adorned her with a heart and a coil, then I took handpainted teabags dipped in encaustic medium and adhered them to the steel wire. An additional Teabag colored with alcohol ink and silver paint adorns the body.
This angel measures 4 inches wide by 3 1/4 inches long. It comes with a silver satin ribbon for hanging.
Encaustics should be cared for as you would for any fine art piece. Encaustic derives from the word ‘burn in’ and is a process of applying molten wax colors to a surface for the creation of images or decoration that began more than 2 millennia ago with Roman Egyptian wax portraits.
Be gentle if handling the ornament in extreme heat or cold. It is best to let the piece acclimate to room temperature. Hanging it in direct sunlight may cause some fading over time.
