DANK Haus Weihnachtsmarkt

The holiday assembly line continues as I prepare for the next and final Holiday Market.

On Friday evening and Satur-day, I will be at the DANK Haus for their Weihnachtsmarkt.

On Friday, December 14 from 6 pm to 10 pm, there will be an exclusive Weihnachtsmarkt Party.

This ticketed event includes:

  • Rahm Schnitzel Dinner-  Pork tenderloin medallions seared and sautéed in butter and finished in a shallot mushroom cream sauce.
  • A Drink on the Haus – Whether it is a glass of wine or a cup of Glühwein or a beer, enjoy a German drink on the Haus.
  • Vendor specials – For this one night only, many of the vendors at Weihnachtsmarkt will be running a VIP special just for you.
  • Special music and entertainment –  A visit from St. Nicholas and Krampus, who will make your evening unforgettable.

Tickets are $25 for “Friends of the DANK Haus” and $35 for non-members. DANK Haus is located at 4740 North Western Avenue in Chicago.

On Saturday, December 15, Weihnachtsmarkt 2018 continues from noon until 8 p.m. Held indoors, there will be 2 floors of more than 25 vendor stalls. Food and drink will be available for purchase while you complete your Christmas Shopping.

I am pretty certain Rare Dirndl will return, and you can get a peek at other artists on the Facebook Event Page. You can book horse Drawn carriage rides as well.

I pulled lyrics from my favorite German carols and embellished some angels with those.

It is fun to remember my childhood family gatherings. My aunt and uncle had real candles on their Christmas tree, which I thought was super exciting. Of course a bucket was nearby, and the tree obviously was never left unattended while lit.

I’m also fiddling with some other embellishments for this show. Germany’s Erzgebirge is known for amazing wood carvings, and I am charmed by the miniature angels Flade offers.

Weihnachtsmarkt is a historical German street market associated with the celebration of Christmas during the four weeks of advent. The market has food, drink and seasonal items from open-air stalls accompanied by traditional singing and dancing.

There is a $5 suggested donation at the door. I hope to see you there!
