Evanston Made Maker’s Market on Sunday

This weekend I have two exciting events. On Saturday my goddess design makes its debut at Nasty Women Evanston. Then on Sunday I will be part of a literal trunk show in Downtown Evanston. In conjunction with Evanston’s Oktoberfest, Evanston Made is hosting a Maker’s Market on the 5th Floor of the Maple Street Garage. Both the Fest and the art fair are held from 12 pm to 6 pm on Sunday, September 29.

Numerous artists will set up their wares in 2 parking spaces, with some selling directly out of their trunk. There will also be Young Makers section for age 18 and under craftspeople.

Makers will sell ceramics, jewelry, art, dog portraits, slime and more. I will of course bring the whole gamut, jewelry, plant stakes and ornaments. I haven’t figured out how my trunk will come into play, but you will see a table setup for sure.

The Maple Avenue Garage can be found at 1800 Maple Ave. Evanston, IL 60201. The garage has elevators. A suggested donation for adults of $5 is requested to support future Evanston Made events, and kids are free.

The Downtown Evanston’s 5th annual Evanston Oktoberfest on Sunday, September 29, 12 to 6pm at the Evanston Farmer’s Market location, University Place and Oak Avenue. Enjoy samples from 18 breweries, delicious fare from local food vendors, German musicians and dancers, live music by Railheart, and fun and games!

Admission to the fest is $35, with a commemorative stein and a tasting card good for twelve six ounce pours. There is a $15 designated driver ticket if you are not drinking alcohol and/or are 13 and older. Kids 12 and younger are free. Buy tickets now. Oktoberfest attendees receive complimentary access to this art market with their wristband.

Bring your kids to enjoy fall arts and crafts activities hosted by One River School and mini-pumpkin painting. Adults will have the opportunity to get competitive with a tricycle races from 104pm led by Wheel & Sprocket, and steinholding contest and costume contest. Feel free to purchase adornments from the makers to enhance your look!

The events for Oktoberfest are as follows. We will be open until 6 so there is ample time to take the elevators upstairs and visit the fair. I am pretty certain the Oompa Musik will make its way upstairs.

12PM               Official Tapping of the Keg
12-1PM            DJ
1:15-1:30PM    Edelweiss Dancers
1:30-3:00PM    Die Musikmeisters Band will perform traditional Oktoberfest songs, lead a sing-a-long and the Chicken Dance
3:05-3:20PM    Edelweiss Dancers
3:30-4:30PM    Stein Hold Contest & Costume Contest
4:45-5:45PM    Railheart

I might have to dust off my Rare Dirndl for Sunday.

Evanston Oktoberfest is the premier fundraiser for Downtown Evanston, the organization that works to keep downtown Evanston a clean, vibrant and fun place to live, work, and explore. Some new pendants will make their debut.

Since we don’t want you to drink and drive, the location of both events is easily walkable from the Davis Street Station. Both CTA and Metra have a stop by that name near to each other. I am less familiar with bus routes, but the Davis station also serves as a bus stop. Map your transit route here.

We hope to see you there!
