Evanston Made Anticipation

Phew, It’s been major prep time for me this past week. Fresh off the Sauce Walk I had to pick out my pieces for the Evanston Made Pop Up Shop. Then I was asked to bring some pieces to Nasty Women as well. So, in addition to the Hermosa ArtShow this weekend, I’ll be spending evenings at Evanston Made events.

On Friday, June 1 from 6 to 9 p.m., the Evanston Art Center will host an opening soiree of participating Evanston Made Art Walk Participants. You can peek at the works of more than 60 artists, and then plot out your studio tour with the fancy maps the Art Center will have available.

My Communicating Love piece will be hanging among great talent throughout the month.

The Evanston Made Studio Tour takes place Saturday, June 2 from 12 to 5 p.m, with numerous artists opening their home based or commercial spaces for you to peruse.

Some will offer demonstrations of their work, but on the whole you just get to look at a body of work all in one place, which is really neat. I created the pieces I promised for the EvanstonMade Pop Up Shop and to Nasty Women.

At the close of the studio tours head over to 1100 Florence. There, doors will open from 6-9 pm to purchase art work benefiting Planned Parenthood. You can get a peek at the $100 pieces throughout the day, but the buying is first-come, first-serve.

There will also be a tent with 3D pieces available, and I have selected a few activist angels to be there for you to pick up.

The Evanston Made’s Pop Up Shop is located in the lobby of the Evanston Art Center (June 1-30) and features works for sale by Evanston Creatives.

I had fun picking out what will go there and am curious how the store shapes up this year.

You will see a variety of stakes, ornaments and some keychains from me.

On Thursday June 28 from 6 to 8 p.m., there will be an Evanston Made Sip ‘n Shop hosted by Evanston Made and Evanston Art Center. Enjoy a night of art, shopping, bevvies, ladies and community at 1717 Central St, Evanston.

Since it will be hard for you to leave Evanston on Saturday, I do hope you swing by the Hermosa ArtShow on Sunday from noon to 5. Many great artists will entertain you there.
