Fair Hangover

It’s been a whirlwind of fairs and I’m a bit exhausted from navigating new neighborhoods, weather fluctuations and setting up and tearing down my booth multiple times.

It sure is exercise to haul bags, which are streamlined to three since October.

I trimmed the tree 7 times in 2 months.

At one company fair it was fun to see fundraiser creativity in action.

Happily several of my favorite pieces found new homes, which is always a validating experience.

I like the thought of my Maraviglia making their way into the world.

My inventory is back up on Etsy for last-minute shopping, but will close on Friday for the holidays.

The Evanston Art Center’s EXPO continues through Sunday.

Aurora Rose, Stella Boutique and Peaceful Parlour have my pieces on hand as well for last-minute shopping through December 23.

The comings and goings of Maraviglia

I’m in the process of loading new pieces onto Etsy, a sampling of which is provided here:

New in my Etsy store, with more to come!

There are more to be loaded, and of course a lot more to be made! Etsy lovers who have favorited some pieces might notice a few mark-downs as well. I went through it pretty quickly so I can’t tell you the ones I changed, but you might want to poke around the store and check out the summer sale of $5 to $10 permanent discounts.

Aurora Rose Boutique showcases my pieces so well

Aurora Rose Boutique in Lemont, IL, the wonderful store with numerous handcrafted gift items at affordable prices  also has new pieces on hand.

Meanwhile, several Maraviglia have found a good home. Bling-a-Ring is now proudly owned by my friend and original encaustics instructress Cindy.

Funky Dance Moves will enjoy the beauty of Jason McPhillips’ paintings and his lovely wife, Jennifer Jarland, since it went to live with them.

My friend and health care consultant Karen will don new earrings, while strangers took home a ‘Hershey’s Kiss’, and a variety of earrings (including a pair I had just made for my dress and not yet photographed).

Helix and Esther Receives Favor were snapped up on Etsy earlier this summer, and I love being added to treasuries and “favorited”.

Some Etsy love, always appreciated

I also enjoy making custom pieces with meaningful quotes, special shapes and favorite colors for those who are interested. Shop Etsy now or message me to order your favorite piece. Additional discounts get snuck into my monthly newsletter that you can sign up for via this link.

Honoring the Nurturers

Sometimes a holiday sneaks up on me, which is a no-no as I venture into retailing world. But May 12 is Mother’s Day, and to get the gift to the main nurturer in your life, orders need to be placed now in order to get them shipped in time.

Interestingly, this May 12 honors mothers in each of my familial countries. Father’s Day comes on different dates in the Netherlands, Germany and the U.S.

With a few of my friends being mothers, it’s been fun to expand on my ‘mother’s heart’ pendant and customize it with children’s names, birth dates and favorite colors. Recently as I looked up more maternal words, I found that there is a wide variety in other languages, when for some time I thought most words for mother did start with an M or an N. “Patrino and Panjo” were quite a surprise on this list.

My Helix is gaining hearts on Etsy, celebrating shared DNA.

If you’re a newsletter subscriber you have a special coupon code for Etsy purchases, which also applies to Aurora Rose Boutique in Lemont.

I like Luke 1:41-45 for the expectant mother: “When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. In a loud voice she exclaimed: ‘Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed is she who has believed that what the Lord has said to her will be accomplished!'”

The abstract-minded might like a feminine shape like this one:

If you’d like to order a commission, you can peruse this album for ideas on shapes and colors. My friend just purchased this mother-daughter set with birth stones for each member of the family.

Happy Birthday to me!

Today is my birthday, which I have been celebrating for quite some time. In reality, this entire year has been a celebration of life.

The official birthday kick-off was with Crowns, the evening before the beginning of August. But I also splurged with the Geneva trip, and treated myself to some lovely art work by a friend (more on the personal gallery in a future post).

On Friday I tried on Ferragamo Shoes during the WIN Innovation Circle, but my wallet isn’t ready for that kind of splurge yet.

However, I did sell one of my pieces to my friend, which is very exciting and helps toward the newly implemented Ferragamo fund.

In the evening I perused the Hot Wax in the City Opening, while enjoying catching up with all my FUSEDChicago friends. It was lovely to examine their new works and close that evening dining with a friend.

Saturday was spent at the Bristol Renaissance Faire, where Il Dottore offered advice to passers-by.

We also played with hats, and watched jousting, whip crackers and a mud show.

Sunday was spent relaxing and reading.

This week I get to see the Six Dead Queens and an Inflatable Henry show again at Piccolo Theatre.

The fun just won’t stop!
