My mind is still full from an Art Criticism panel discussion I attended Sunday, along with all the wire ideas I have from Saturday’s class. In the midst of freelance projects, Artrageous anticipation, and lots of networking and artsy events on my calendar I feel like I can barely keep up with my own life. […]

Wire heart by Crystal Neubauer, wire shape by Maike’s Marvels I took a fabulous class with Crystal Neubauer on Saturday. PerficalSense Studio hosted “Moving Beyond the Canvas with Wax and Wire.â€Â I had met Crystal at the “Meditations: Looking In, Reflecting Out†exhibit, and knew I’d enjoy learning more from her. First, we were introduced […]

Lincoln Park will be hosting Artrageous along Clark Street and Diversey from April 20 to May 5, at which you can vote for your favorite pieces of art. “When we exhale we don’t worry about where the next inhalation is going to come from.†~ WIN Co-founder and President Valerie Beck Last week I took a midday break and visited WIN’s Spa & Cupcakes. Held every first Tuesday from 2 pm to 3 pm at a downtown spa, the event boasts mini-spa treatments, mini-cupcakes […]

Breaking news: My Swift Swallowtails will be part of Lincoln Park’s Artrageous Show later this month. I am super-excited! More info to come. Last week I finally sent some cards over to Operation Write Home (and got a truly lovely notification of receipt back). I’ve followed this organization for a while, and had lofty plans […]
“Once there was a tree…” ~ Shel Silverstein in The Giving Tree Speaking of books and letterpress, the Botanic Garden had some lovely works on display in their library this weekend, tying it back to the Block Museum Exhibit I visited recently. I drove there to see Treewhispers, a special exhibit that ends April 8. […]
Did you devour a book yesterday? April 1 marks the birthday of French gastronome Jean-Anthelme Brillat-Savarin (1755-1826), the author of Physiologie du goût. In honor of this birthday, and based on an idea conceived in 1999, Judith A. Hoffberg and Béatrice Coron started The International Edible Book Festival. Eat Libris flyer by Evanston Print and […]
A few Fridays ago I visited Navy Pier for the Annual Flower and Garden show. First I had to take a ride on the Ferris Wheel of course. I spun by the stained glass museum and as I walked aaaaallll the way to the end of the pier, discovered a modern stained glass section. The […]
I have many spring pictures to share but haven’t sorted them yet. Someone demanded lap time, which I combined with research. A lunch meeting warranted an excursion to the city. Which included browsing art supply stores (and chocolate sources!) Life is full and fabulous. 🙂
