Season jitteriness

Changing seasons are very distracting to me. I am more sensitive to weather this year, getting antsy when the winds whip around the house at night, feeling pensive under grey skies, and becoming jittery on sunny days when spring is in bloom and birds are calling for mates. Wednesday lured me outside with its summer […]

Oranje Lente

It’s Springy! We’ve had some fabulous weather over the past few days. There was a gorgeous pink moon on Thursday. I also enjoyed watching the plane constellations shift. Someone wasn’t sure what all the moongazers were doing in its territory. Trees are blossoming. Birds are claiming their territory on a neighboring tree. Squirrels munch on […]

Springy Scenes

Working on back-end logistics is time consuming but worthwhile. Prompted by all the art marketing resources I’m working on a newsletter set-up, and still trying to determine how I want Bento to work for me. Over Easter weekend it was rather springy around here, and here are some snapshots of my walks. These lions made […]

Pondering Easter and its origins

I was born in the Netherlands and grew up with the secular version of Easter, blended with German traditions and food as well. We dyed eggs, had an egg hunt on Easter morning, and enjoyed a fabulous Easter Brunch that featured butter in the shape of a lamb, home-baked braided bread, boiled eggs served in […]

Midweek interlude

I’m transcribing notes from my weekend events, but the combination of freelance work and Marvels events preclude me from having that ready for you today. Galas and opening parties are fun to make time for, but it does cut away from other activities, such as blogging. So you’ll have to contend with a few snapshots […]

Admirals Spotting

As I gear up for another Innovation Circle, followed by the Artrageous opening reception, I’ll share some more butterfly sightings with you. I hope to get closer to these lovely admirals when it is warmer and less windy. Leigh Standley wrote a lovely blog about Spring which resonates with me. On Sunday I might take […]

Easter Weekend Walk

Walking through the neighborhood is such a joy these days. It’s gotten a little cooler from the strange March ‘summer,’ but this has not deterred all the blooming. My favorite flower is already popping up in places.  These ‘bells’ do feel like Easter to me. And tulips abound as well. The resident Peregrine Falcons have […]

Sudden Spring

photography by Maike's Marvels

We’ve had some amazingly warm weather here this week. The trees are “sprouting” buds, the sunshine gave everyone good cheer, and it was impossible to stay in. I spotted some bees on these flowers. I don’t know what these are called, but I like them. The tulips are biding their time, but the hyacinth started […]

Scenes from the neighborhood

My long blog post is still simmering, so today I’ll share a few photos from being out and about. The curious robin is heralding spring. I’m treating myself to little pleasures. And the world always reminds us that love is all around you. Have a loving day!

It’s Spring!

The scent of a hyacinth is wafting through the home, my windows are open, birds are chirping, children are playing outside, and the sun is working hard to warm up the world again. Hello sun, hello energy, hello joy! Hello crocuses pushing yourselves out of the ground. Hello new life beyond my imagination!
